Hello friends!
Fall is here and we’re still working on finalizing the last few playbooks. This month, we’ve got the Witch for you!
Finalized Witch
After reviewing the final feedback for the Witch, we’ve made some light copy edits and finished the full playbook writeup, similar to the advice for the playbooks in the core book! Just as with the last few playbooks, there aren’t any major revisions here, but the feedback was very useful for writing up the playbook advice.
We’ll be releasing the Witch to you as DTRPG code so it’ll be in your digital library forever!

We hope you enjoyed the Vessel! Summer is coming to a close but we’re still working hard on finalizing these playbooks. We’ve returned with another finalized playbook: the Dragon!
Finalized Dragon
The Dragon has had a significant upgrade since the original release of the revamped playbook—in addition to their Broodmates and the Ordo Draconis, the playbook also allows you to better detail your Hoard. We want the MC and the player to be on the same page about what kind of items the Dragon is looking for, and it gives a clear path forward for when they find something noteworthy to covet.

Despite being at Gen Con RIGHT NOW (come see us at Booth #2309!) we are here to deliver another playbook and a lot of DTRPG codes.
Finalized Vessel
After reviewing the feedback for the Vessel, we’ve made some light copy edits and finished the full playbook writeup, similar to the advice for the playbooks in the core book! Just as with the Angel and Immortal, there aren’t any major revisions here, but the feedback was very useful for writing up the playbook advice. (We especially hope you enjoy the Vessel art, one of our favorite pieces of art that we’ve ever commissioned!)

Summer is officially here in our urban sprawl and we hope you are staying cool despite the heat attacking many parts of the world right now. We have some exciting new documents to share with you. Let’s jump in!

Revised Witch & Restless
While we’re moving to finish all the playbook advice sections, we’re also doing one final pass on major revisions—both the Witch and the Restless have some updates that we’d like you all to take a look at before we write up the final playbook advice.
The Witch has had some minor tweaks—including clarifying that you don’t have to let your familiar die for you—but the most important edit is the full inclusion of forbidden magic. You still have to do (almost) all your magic in your shop, but there are also some rules for some light benign magic in a crunch!
The Restless has had a more full rewrite. We’ve replaced Dreams with a Program that you’re working since being released from Limbo, and we’ve also tightened up the timeline so that you’ve only been gone 10-20 years—that should make it easier for folks to have known you before you were locked away. (And as a reminder, the Restless is still a member of Night, even at Status-0!)

We are thrilled to return with an emissary from a defiant and dangerous god and a clever dealer of magical artifacts. We hope you’ve been playing games and surviving the helltide that seems to be around every corner. Shall we explore the Angel and Scholar?
Finalized Angel & Scholar
After carefully going through feedback, we’ve updated the Angel playbook and finished the full playbook write up, similar to the advice for the playbooks in the core book! The Angel did not see major changes to the mechanics, but the feedback we got helped to inform all of the playbook advice. We hope it makes things clear, and we’re looking forward to hearing what you think!
The Scholar has had several major changes; we’ve rewritten most of their let it out abilities, as well as revising several moves to be more active. We want the Scholar to be a schemer and manipulator, but they also need things to do—like tracking down leads—when things get quiet. The playbook advice also dives into the kind of magical items that show up regularly in Urban Shadows games to help the MC conceptualize what might be a good fit for their campaign.
